2017 Board of Directors Continued

Bennie Salkil

Bennie attended Sheldon High School in Sheldon, MO and graduated from Missouri Southern State University. He moved to Salina in September of 2009 and works at the Salina Regional Health Center and Hospice of Salina. His family includes his wife Linda, who also volunteers in the community when she isn’t working at Webster Conference Center, and their two grown children, Ami and Darren.

Bennie volunteers because he believes that “the SAUW makes a positive community impact by assisting in giving people a hand-up instead of a handout.” He hopes to encourage progress through helping the SAUW grow to become the leading force in Salina when it comes to helping families achieve financial stability. “I believe through our efforts at SAUW we can help those families receive the education and training needed to make them financially secure. Programs that are being managed by SAUW certified partners are making an impact today and I believe that we can not only continue that impact but we can improve it and grow our influence in the community to make Salina a stronger community to live in.”

Amy Schreiner

Amy has lived in Salina since May 2013 and has been employed with Advantage Trust Company since May of 2012, where she currently holds the title of Vice President & Real Estate Officer. She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Personal Financial Planning.

Amy is eager to do her part in the SAUW organization to ensure Salina and the surrounding communities flourish and continually strive to be better. She believes that in order to keep a community strong and thriving, it takes active participation and engagement of community members.

In the oncoming years, she would like to see SAUW continue to strengthen our community by impacting and supporting efforts that make those in the community confident in their financial stability, provide resources so that all have the opportunity to succeed in their educational endeavors, and support programs that engage the community in adapting a healthy lifestyle.

Kory Tinkler

Kory grew up in salina. He graduated from Salina Central High School and then KSU in Manhattan. He has lived in Salina for over 25 years and worked at the Bennington State Bank for 15 years.

Kory is passionate about financial stability and education. His goal in volunteering for SAUW is to help improve financial conditions for the citizens of Salina.

Kory is married to Julie, who works as a radiologist technician at Mowery Clinic. He would like to see Salina’s community become more self-sufficient and educated on family household economics. He also wants to see involvement in education from parents and family and increased knowledge on the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle.

Loren Young

Loren grew up on a farm just north of Long Island, Kansas. He graduated from Northern Valley High School in Almena, Kansas and has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Fort Hays State University.
Loren moved to Salina in 1984. He has worked as a CPA at Kcoe Isom, LLP since 1984.
Loren believes in SAUW’s mission to strengthen Salina’s community by improving the health, education, and financial stability of citizens and he volunteers as a board member to help in that process.
Loren is married to Sara and they have 3 adult children and 3 grandsons. Sara volunteers in the community with Circles of the Heartland, Women Helping Women, and Trinity United Methodist Church.
Loren would like to see jobs expand and fewer citizens living in poverty. He is also excited for the downtown and river redevelopment projects that are underway and the business development opportunities they may bring to Salina.
