A gift to the Salina Area United Way Community Fund focuses your donation to provide solutions and achieve visible, lasting results. Trained volunteers analyze and invest in a wide array of programs and services provided by our partner agencies, as well as Community Impact projects that address emerging needs. Then when it is time to allocate funds they lead Visiting Panels who meet with Partner Agency staff and volunteers for dialog and assessment. This ensures donor dollars are well spent and gives a stamp of approval the whole community can recognize.

The Salina Area United Way Strategic Plan centers on 1) Community Impact and 2) Resource Development.  The plan calls for United Way to focus on achieving impact and building community as the purpose of its work.  United Way's purpose is more than just a 'pass through' of funds to other charities.  The three outcomes that United Way is committed to achieve are to:


     a) bring together the community for collective action

     b) develop necessary resources

     c) insure efficiency and effectiveness


United Way has an impact on meeting community needs, building community assets, developing collaborative approaches, leveraging additional dollars, and affecting policies on the local, state and national levels.  United Way is uniquely positioned to undertake community building efforts due to its mission and values, its connection with community leaders and the business community, a diverse roster of volunteers and board of directors, a linkage with human service providers in the community and experience with collaborative efforts.
