Financial Assistance: A Salina Child Care Association Success Story

“My name is Kaitlyn and through United Way scholarship funding, my son Izzaiah has been able to receive quality early childhood education at Salina Child Care Association. Izzaiah just turned five years old and has been attending Salina Child Care since August 2010. When Izzaiah started at Salina Child Care we received assistance from Head Start while my husband and I worked full time. Our income increased a little and we were no longer eligible for Head Start but were unable to afford the full cost of early childhood education. We appreciate the financial assistance that we have received through a United Way scholarship.

Izzaiah is an only child and we wanted him to have the opportunity to learn with other children his age. He’ll be attending kindergarten in the fall and I know how important it is for children to enter school ready to learn. Through the teachers at Salina Child Care Association, Izzaiah now has the skills he needs to be successful in school.

Thank you to Salina Child Care Association and United Way for making a difference in our lives.

Salina Child Care Association SMART Goal: By December 31, 2015, 80% of five year olds at Salina Child Care Center will achieve 10 of 10 school readiness skills.
