Amy Schreiner

President

Amy has lived in Salina since May 2013 and has been employed with Advantage Trust Company since May of 2012, where she currently holds the title of Vice President & Real Estate Officer. She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Personal Financial Planning.

Amy is eager to do her part in the SAUW organization to ensure Salina and the surrounding communities flourish and continually strive to be better. She believes that in order to keep a community strong and thriving, it takes active participation and engagement of community members.

 

In the oncoming years, she would like to see SAUW continue to strengthen our community by impacting and supporting efforts that make those in the community confident in their financial stability, provide resources so that all have the opportunity to succeed in their educational endeavors, and support programs that engage the community in adapting a healthy lifestyle.

 

She and her husband Jeremy, who works for the Kansas Department of Transportation as an Equipment Operator.


Stephanie Cool
 

Stephanie grew up in Council Grove and went to school at CGHS. She graduated from Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Restaurant Management. She also obtained her professional Human Resource certifications and holds both PHR and SHRM-CP certifications. She has lived in Salina since 1985 and started her first job in Salina on April Fools’ Day as the Restaurant Manager of the Iron street Burger King. She worked at Burger King for almost 16 years, developing the restaurant into a training store and then advancing to the role of District Manager. She left Burger King in 2000 and had a brief stint as a territory consultant for Orion Food Service (a division of Schwann’s).

In 2001, Stephanie accepted the first position in pharmaceutical sales, became a district trainer for Schering Plough, and ended her career in pharmaceuticals as a Specialty Sales Representative with Merck-Schering Plough. She went back into the restaurant industry in an executive role with Freddy’s franchise. She is now the Vice President of Human Resources with the Bank of Tescott. She enjoys working with people, solving problems, and helping to train and develop people to reach their maximum potential.

Stephanie has worked with United Way for over 30 years. She likes being a part of United Way because it is such an integral part of the community and impacts so many lives. Her volunteer time is limited, so she likes to volunteer where she can make the most difference. She also volunteers at Sunrise Presbyterian Church as an Elder and she is President of SHRMA, a local Human Resources organization.

Stephanie is married to Kevin Cool. Together, they run Cool Construction. She has two adult sons, Adam and Jordan Young, who both have successful careers in Kansas City. Stephanie wants to be able to help Salina community members obtain financial health and stability, accomplish healthcare initiatives, and close the gaps in education.


 

Jake Wise
Campaign Chair 

Jake grew up in Cawker City, Kansas which he proudly points out is home to the world's largest ball of twine. He's a graduate of Fort Hays State University and is the branch manager at Capitol Federal Savings Bank in Salina, where he has worked since 2005.

Jake's commitment to the community is evidenced not only by his involvement with SAUW, but also through his active participation in numerous other community agencies as well. Jake is active in the Salina Young Professionals, volunteers for the River Festival and is an ally at Circles of the Heartland.


Brett Mitchell
Treasurer

Brett Mitchell is proud to be born and raised in Salina, graduating from Salina South.  He received his AA in Administration of Justice from JCCC.  He is currently the AVP with Bennington State Bank.  A husband and father of 2 kids and 1 husky, Brett and his family enjoy trips to the zoo, golfing, and vacations to Colorado.  Brett says, "It is rewarding to hear the success stories that come from United Way programs and partnerships.  My hope is that those stories continue for many years to come and that those impacted continue to pay it forward in order to stregthen the community as a whole."


Daniel Craig

Daniel is the Wellness & Prevention Coordinator for Salina Regional Health Center. He has a strong background in planning and coordinating health promotion and tobacco prevention activities. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Pittsburg State University in 2004. He obtained his Master's of Science degree in Health Promotion & Wellness Management at Missouri State University in 2006. He is also an avid runner and competes in numerous 5K and marathon races.

Daniel supports SAUW and numerous other organizations and coalitions. He currently serves on the Saline County Tobacco use Prevention Coalition and Live Well Saline County. He is also currently the Chair of the Primary Prevention Committee for the Chronic Disease Alliance of Kansas and is the North Central Regional Representative on the Tobacco Free Kansas Coalition Board.

 


Marcia Demuth

Marcia received her BS in Business Marketing from the University of Phoenix Online. Since then she has held several positions with Girl Scouts, St. John’s Military School, and the Salina Art Center. She is currently the Multi-Media Sales Executive at the Salina Journal.

Marcia has volunteered for United Way and worked with UPC for several years. When she was asked to serve an unexpired board term, she saw it as an opportunity to play a larger role in making changes in the community.

Growing up, Marcia lived in North Central Kansas, graduation from Beloit Junior-Senior High, in Beloit Kansas. She has currently lived in Salina for 29 years. One of the many things she loves about Salina is how everyone works together to build a nurturing, safe, and engaged community. In the next few years Marcia would like to see continued improvements in three priority areas; Education, Income, and Health. She seeks to impact more individuals while working towards strengthening our community.

Marcia and husband Gary, Central High School Drama Teacher, have 2 grown children, Shelia and Patrick. Shelia and her 2 beautiful daughters live in Salina, while Patrick resides in Wichita.


 


Julia Ramos

Julia, a graduate of Salina High School South and Kansas State University, has been back in the Salina area for three years. Currently, Julia works for the City of Salina in the Community Relations Division as a Community Relations Specialist.

Julia and her son have enjoyed what Salina has been offering since their return back to town, and she's been volunteering as a way to give back to the community.

"It would be great to see a more united community working towards a positive city environment. I would like to see the community come together and work on goals that would continue to lead Salina towards [being] a more stable, healthy, and safe community."


Jessica Goubeaux

Program Chair

Jessica, while born in Manhattan, KS, considers herself to have grown up on a farm just south of Liberal, KS.  She also spent time in the Salina/Assaria area, graduating from Southeast of Saline.  Jessica attended Washburn University, double majoring in Finance and Economics, and there met her husband.

After nearly 3 years at Assurance Partners, Jessica will take on the role of Credit Manager for Great Plains Manufacturing in the beginning of 2018.

Jessica wants to see a strong downtown, better mental health services, and a collaboration between civic and non-profit groups.

"Salina is home. Salina is where my husband and I chose to raise our family. My passion stems from making sure that Salina’s tomorrow is bright not only for my child but for all its residents. Steps we make today can make a big impact for tomorrow, if we take them. SAUW is taking these steps and I want to be a member of an organization that is taking action."


 

Taylor Stockwell
 

As a Case Manager at Saint Francis Ministries works to strengthen families in the Salina Area United Way's 10-county service area.  Taylor attended Kansas State University Polytechnic, Salina, earning her 

Bachelor's degree of Science in Social Work. 


Chris Pembelton

Chris, who grew up in Salina and attended Salina South, holds an Associates, Bachelors, and Masters in Business Administration, and also has a Doctorate in Business Administration specializing in Social Impact Management.  His doctoral study was on the topic of creating revenue diversifcation among non profits.  Currently, he is employed at the Land Institute. 

His passion for Salina includes finding ways to circulate local wealth to benefit the entire community - directing his higher education pursuit so that he could be a better asset to our community.  When asked what progress he wants to see SAUW make, he states, "I would like SAUW to experience growth in revenue - increasing opportunities for Salina organizations, SAUW exposure, and allowing SAUW to flourish."  He spends his free time with his wife, Katie, and his kids, Jocelyn and Greyson.


Laurel Michel

Secretary

Laurel grew up in Salina and was a 2011 graduate of Central High School. She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in English and from the University of Kansas School of Law where she received her Juris Doctor in 2018. Laurel is now an associate attorney for the law firm Kennedy Berkley Yarnevich & Williamson, Chartered, where she primarily focuses on domestic law and civil litigation.

Laurel has enjoyed seeing Salina grow and strengthen over the years and wants to be able to help contribute to this. She believes that the Salina Area United Way is an integral organization to the community and that by growing and strengthening SAUW, we will be able to grow and strengthen individuals, businesses, and the community as a whole.


Margaret Dixon

Grant Chair

Margaret started with SAUW as a grant reviewer. Over the years, she has come to appreciate all of the programs that are available in the community. Margaret work as a Financial Counselor for Salina Regional Health Center Physician Revenue Cycle. It has been helpful knowing what program are available to help some of SRHC patients and coworkers.

 

 


Devin Rizzo-Foden

Devin Grew up in Laguna Niguel, California and graduated from Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, California in 2013. He Moved to Salina in 2013 to further his education and continue his football career at Kansas Wesleyan University. He graduated from Kansas Wesleyan University in May of 2017 with his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. While going to Kansas Wesleyan Devin worked in the restaurant industry as a Service Professional at Olive Garden.

After Graduating from KWU he began his career in Human Resources at OCCK, Inc. He left OCCK, Inc. in April of 2018 and transition into his current role as a Human Resources Generalist at Exide Technologies. Devin has a loving and supportive wife, Regan Rizzo-Foden, who is a 1st Grade Teacher at Solomon Elementary. He also has a Male Miniature Australian Shepherd named Milo. Devin and his family have come to love the Salina Community and enjoy living here.

He has been very involved in Youth Sports, Coaching 11u and 12u Baseball, 4th & 5th Grade Basketball, and 5th Grade Football. He is excited to be a part of Salina Area United Way and help improve our community.
