Why We're Coming Together
Due to the recent government shutdown, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits have been paused — leaving many Salina families without the support they rely on to afford food, medicine, and other essentials.
In response, Salina Area United Way and Tony’s Pizza Events Center are launching a powerful initiative:
SNAP Back Against Hunger: Food & Resources Fair
This event is more than a food drive — it’s a community movement to support our neighbors in need.
The Need in Saline County
Key Stats from the ALICE Report:
- Population: 53,801
- Households: 22,299
- Median Household Income: $63,316 (below state average of $70,333)
- ALICE Households: 23% (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed)
- Households in Poverty: 15%
That means 38% of households in Saline County are struggling to meet basic needs like food, housing, childcare, and healthcare.

How You Can Help
Host a donation box at your business, school, or organization. Contact our office to see what is still needed.
- What’s Needed? - Before collecting, please contact our office to find out which items are still in high demand.
- Delivery Instructions - All donations must be delivered to Tony’s Pizza Events Center on Monday, November 17, 2025, between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
- Large Collections or Special Needs? - If you have a large donation or need special accommodations for delivery or pickup, please reach out to us directly.
- Promote Your Drive - Use our Marketing Toolkit to spread the word and encourage your community to give generously.
Every dollar goes directly to feeding families and providing essential supplies. We are collecting monetary donations in our Emergency Relief Fund.
Food donations may be dropped off at any of our participating businesses or our office 328 N Ohio St. during normal business hours.

Nonprofits, service providers, and local businesses are invited to reserve a booth. Vendor booths are filled on a first come first serve basis.
